Ciguatera Project
Project Background:
STFA has joined with scientists from Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, University of
Florida, UVI, U. Maryland Baltimore, Schneider Hospital, the Food and Drug Administration
and Florida State University in a 3 year one million dollar project on Ciguatera Fish
Poisoning  funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.  Project background

Ciguatera is a naturally ocurring poison which has always been present in the Virgin
Islands.  Some background on ciguatera, treatment and possible links to climate change
can be found at the Background link on this page.  As the project progresses, more
information will be provided.

If you or someone you know gets poisoned, save any left over fish and
contact the
project through their website.  Also the website contains a lot of information about
Ciguatera.
